New Delhi: Jaguar’s 2016 product offensive in India is concluding on a strong note towards the end of this year. Earlier this month, we got you word that JLR is set to launch the new XF in October, and now, our sources tell us that the F-Pace will be launched in the same month. This, of course, does raise the possibility of both models being launched simultaneously, though the F-Pace’s launch is expected in the third week of October.
Jaguar’s first SUV has already been listed on the automaker’s Indian website for a while now, with the SUV itself showcased at this year’s Auto Expo. While many luxury car manufacturers are scrambling to offer petrol powerplants, as per the website, it looks like the India-spec F-Pace will only be available with two diesel engines, at least initially.
The entry-level ‘Pure’ and ‘Prestige’ variants will be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that makes 180PS of power and 430Nm of torque. Paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, this engine drives the F-Pace from 0-100kmph in 8.7 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 208kmph. Jump up to the ‘R-Sport’ and you get the full-fat 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel that makes 300PS of power and 700Nm of torque – enough to make the SUV complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 6.2 seconds before it hits its top speed of 241kmph. Like the other variants, the R-Sport gets an 8-speed autobox and all-wheel drive.
The ‘First Edition’ grade has also been listed on JLR’s website, though it may not be available at launch. Expect the F-Pace to be launched at a starting price of around Rs 70 lakh.
