Drop in traffic leads Myntra to relaunch site

New Delhi: In what stands to be a significant development for the e-commerce industry, fashion site Myntra has re-launched its desktop website. The company had already made this announcement earlier.
Having begun its transition from desktop to mobile, in 2015, the company was looking to phase out its web presence gradually over the course of the year. However, the ensuing months witnessed a drop in traffic and sales as consumers did not transition to buying over apps as easily as was expected by the company.
Companies like MakeMyTrip, Ola, Uber, BookMyShow had also aggressively moved to mobile apps citing reasons of better control over users via app.
Icidentally,  Mukesh Bansal, Myntra founder, and Punit Soni, Chief Product Officer of Flipkart, who are believed to have played an instrumental role in Myntra’s app-only strategy left the company this year. The new management now hopes the return of the website would help the company boost its revenue.
