Delhi telcos fail call-drop test : TRAI

New Delhi: A recent survey conducted by the telecom regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) between May 3 -May 6 suggests that nearly all operators in the national capital have call drops beyond the benchmark of 2% of calls.
The survey was conducted by TRAI in 12 Indian cities. This research comes amid protests by various telecom companies against imposition of any kind of penalty for call drops.
According to the survey results, Bharti Airtel, saw a drop in service quality compared to a similar survey conducted in January. The call drop rate rose to 3.3% on the 2G network (1.4% in January) and 2.2% on 3G (1.6%). However, Vodafone's 3G was found to be well within the prescribed limits while Airtel claims to be working on improvement in its services.
On the hindsight, The Cellular Operators Association of India has in the past raised questions on the surveys conducted by TRAI.
