New Delhi: A Singapore Airline budget carrier called Scoot will soon be launching itself into the Indian market. But unlike the normal fast-paced-sounding names, this carrier will have a more quirky name: Kamascootra.

In a bid to successfully launch itself into the Indian market, Scoot India aimed for a quirky and a funny name with Indian connotation to attract more customers. Whether or not it is the right name for the 12th Boeing 787 Dreamliner is only to be seen as time comes.

“We wanted a name with an Indian connect… something that is quirky and funny. We considered naming the plane after superstar Rajnikanth’s name like Thalaivar or something associated with Sachin Tendulkar like his jersey number or birth date. We finally opted for Kamascootra,” said Scoot’s India head Bharath Mahadevan.

The first Kamascootra flight will be used on the inaugural Singapore-Jaipur flight which will take place on 2nd October. The Singapore Airlines (SIA) is one of the biggest foreign airlines in India.
