New Delhi: After Reliance Jio announced the extension of free voice call and data services till March, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) said that it will soon provide its customers with unlimited local and national voice calls to other networks at Rs 149 a month.

The scheme is expected to be launched on January 1, 2017 and will be including 300 MB data also.

The new tariff plan is expected to help BSNL compete with Reliance Jio, whose entry has taken aback the telecom market.

“We are working on a plan to allow unlimited voice calls to mobile subscribers at any network across India at Rs 149 a month,” BSNL chairman Anupam Shrivastava told ET, adding that the plan would also include 300 MB of data.

The state-run telecom service provider BSNL is the only telecom network after Jio to offer unlimited voice calling in a low-priced tariff plan.
