Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday after presenting the Union Budget 2017, addressed the media and spoke on key issues that he announced during his budget speech.

Mentioning that the government’s motive was to continue its fight against black money, the Finance Minister said that steps are being taken to make people tax compliant.

“Through the budget we wanted honest tax payers to benefit,” Jaitley added.

Addressing the issue of funding of political parties, Arun Jaitley said, “Announced scheme to cleanse political funding and to make the economy cleaner and transparent at large. Electoral bonds to be redeemable only in notified accounts of political parties.”

“Many steps in the budget are towards boosting employment, it is not a separate chapter,” the Finance Minister said in another statement.

Speaking on the issue of tax returns, FM Jaitley said, “If tax returns are filed then both the donor and the donee will get exemption on tax in political donations.”
