Chairman of Reliance Group of industries Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of its 4G feature ‘smart budget’ phone on Friday afternoon around 1.15 PM. Jio, today, is growing exponentially with more than 125 million customers , adding 7 customers per second on an average.

Reliance has planned the price of Jio phone to be effectively ‘free’ hence costing Rs 0 & levying Rs 1500 as a security deposit which is refundable after 3 years.

The Jio 4G phone testing begins on 15th of August and it can be pre-booked from 24th of August onward. The JioPhone will be physically available by September on first come first serve basis.

However, it is said not to support WhatsApp as of now but that time may not be too far where Reliance would actually develop this into a phone that facilitates Whatsapp too.

Besides that, the ultra loaded ‘smart budget’ phone (4G Jio Phone) supports voice commands for making calls, messaging and Near-field communication (NFC) command for tap and Go Payments.

Further, it enables users to link their bank accounts, UPI and Debit/Credit cards through it.

Along with it, Reliance has also announced budget 4G plans for its users like the ‘Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan plan’ at a normal price of Rs 153, for unlimited calls and data for a month. The unlimited 4G data will be capped to 500MB a day, though voice calls and SMS will be free for the Jio users to cherish.
