Bangalore-Ernakulam express train derails near Hosur in Karnataka; ten killed, several injured

HOSUR: Bangalore-Ernakulam express has derailed on Friday morning near Hosur in Karnataka.

According to the reports, the incident took place between 7:30 am and 7:45 am. Around 7-8 coaches of the express train have derailed.

Ten persons have been killed and more than 60 are injured in the accident, said reports. 

However, there is no confirmation about the number of the casualties yet and the rescue operations are underway.

Railway medical rescue teams have rushed to the site of the accident and about six ambulances from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have rushed to the spot.

According to the information from the sources, the injured persons trapped in coaches were being removed and rushed to the nearby hospitals.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has tweeted after the tragic incident, "Unfortunate rail accident in Karnataka, Boulder fell on track in Ghat section, and train hit it. Directed all senior officers to rush with full help"
