In a big relief to the assistant teachers of Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme court has given its verdict in favour of the teachers. The assistant teachers will now be awarded two attempts to crack the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) and earn a promotion.
The Supreme Court has also assured the current lot of 72000 teachers who have cleared TET of their post, they will remain designated on their current position.
The controversy in the matter was regarding the appointment of 1.72 lakh assistant teachers who were later removed from their post following a verdict by the Allahabad Court which was against their appointment.
Assistant teachers later took the matter to the Supreme Court arguing that the disposed assistant staff had been working for years with efficiency. Lawyers including the likes of Salman Khurshid, Nitish Gupta, Jayant Bhusna and RS Suri presented the assistant teachers side in the argument and ensured victory in the Court.
