DMER not to carry out 2nd round seat allotment for the vacant MBBS/BDS

New Delhi: Directorate of Medical Education & Research, DMER will not carry out a second round seat allotment for the vacant MBBS/BDS seats. 

The first round of counselling and selection list was published on the website on October 3, 2016. DMER had been given the responsibility to conduct centralised counselling for vacant seats in the 18 medical and dental institutes across the state by the Supreme Court on October 28. The seats will be left  in the deemed university medical and dental institutes will be filled through college-wise counselling.

Bombay HC  has directed the state that no list will be published until its further order, HC had earlier asked the state government to prepare a separate merit list based on NEET 2016 for all India category.

Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and MS Sonak J directed the state government to prepare two merit lists; one would be an all-India merit list, and the other a merit list of students with Maharashtra state domicile.

The Supreme Court on September 28 had ordered that the remaining vacant seats in the state should be filled though centralised counselling before October 7 by the state authority. After the court order, the  domicile students would get first preference in the admission process and after that if seats remained vacant, those could be allotted to students from other states.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research controls and regulates the administration of 11 Government Medical colleges and Hospitals along with Urban & Rural Health centres attached to them. It also regulates 3 Government Dental colleges & Hospitals.The Directorate supervises the Medical Education i.e.Under Graduate , Post Graduate and Super Specialisation.It also co-ordinates the Research activities in Fundamental Research, Applied Research & Operational Research in the Institutions under its control and through Out-reach Services.

The Director Medical Education and Research is the competent authority for Common Entrance test for admission to Health Science Courses (MH-CET). Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the cut off marks for the All India Quota Seats for MBBS, BDS admissions and the revised answer keys for admission to MBBS and BDS courses.
