Protests have broken out in Ludhina today, over the ‘sex comedy’ Bollywood film, ’Mastizaade’. Objections are being put forward by people over the content of the film, which stars Sunny Leone and Tusshar Kapoor.
The film has already been released and the box office collections have risen to almost Rs 20 crore. These protests have broken out outside a movie theatre. The protesters are saying that the film is ‘extremely indecent’ and are raising banners against the release of the film.
The film ‘Mastizaade’ was given an ‘A’ certificate by the Censor Board but is still causing controversy because of activists taking to the streets claiming that the film is ‘crude and crass’ and calling for it to be banned.
The protest in Ludhiana was staged by the Hindu Nyay Peeth. They tried to enter a theatre in order to stop the screening of the film in question. Security forces had to intervene in order to stop the protesters from entering the theatre.
‘Mastizaade’ was released on the 29th of January and has been playing in several theatres across the country.
