NEW DELHI: Congress leader Salman Khurshid and German ambassador to India Michael Steiner, paying tributes to Bollywood, made their acting debut in a remake video of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 2003 romantic movie ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’.
The three and a half minute music video, titled ‘Lebe Zetzt-Kal Ho Naa Ho’, stars German ambassador to India Michael Steiner in the lead role along with his wife Eliese who acted the role played by Priety Zinta while former Foreign Minister of India, Salman Khurshid filled in the role played by Saif ali Khan.
Actress Sharmila Tagore, actor Saif Ali Khan, Javed Akhtar, Madhu Kishwar and director Sumit Osmand Shaw attended the premier of the music video in the national capital.
While launching the music video at his residence in Delhi, Steiner said, “Working on the music video was tough. There were three difficulties while acting - First, the only acting that I did was in my school, second, I don't know Hindi so lip-syncing was very hard and third, Germans are not known for their sense of humour.”
Congress leader Salman Khurshid speaking at the launch said, “While it was very tough to imitate Saif's style in the song, it would be a lot tougher to play him in politics.”
Actor Saif Ali Khan, who was present at the premiere of the music, hailed the music video clip as a ‘unique diplomatic effort’, saying that he enjoyed a lot watching Stenier in Shah Rukh Khan’s role in the music video.
Actress Sharmila Tagore said that it was fun to see Steiner playing Shah Rukh Khan's role and Khurshid playing Saif Ali Khan’s role in the video. While, Javed Akhtar said that he always believed that politicians were good actors but now the video is proof of that.
Praising and extending respect to the Bollywood fraternity and the fantastic actors, the Ambassador said, “It was a challenge to act in the video. These actors are masters and they are popular in Germany also. I realised that you cannot imitate Shah Rukh Khan who is a perfect actor.”
