Shorgul's release date shifted by a week

Mumbai: Amidst the rising debate pertaining to the political drama 'Shorgul', the release date of the Jimmy Shergill-starrer has been shifted by a week from June 24 to July 1. The film touches upon the sensitive Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013.
The movie has already been facing hurdles to get released prior to elections in many parts of UP like Muzaffarnagar, Kanpur, Ghaziabad and Lucknow where the film faces a release ban.
As per sources, a fatwa was also issued earlier by Khamman Peer Baba Committee against actor Jimmy Shergill for starring in political drama.
A 24 FPS Films Production, the movie is based on intolerance and aspires to make audiences contemplate where humanity stands amidst the noise of religious, social, political and economic prejudice.
The film makers are likely to approach Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister AkhileshYadav in the matter.
Shorgul is an upcoming 2016 Indian political thriller drama film directed by, Pranav K Singh alias P. Singh and Jitendra Tiwari.
