New Delhi: The film 'Shorgul' has been in controversies because of its sensitive storyline. The film is said to be based on the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013. The film has received strong political reactions.

Jimmy Shergill starrer, Shorgul, a political thriller is directed by Jitendra Tiwari and P. Singh. Other actors in the lead role are Suha Gezen, Ashutosh Rana, Narendra Jha, Anirudh Dave and Sanjay Suri.

In an exclusive interview with NewsX, Muzaffarnagar MP Dr Sanjeev Balyan said, “This is a very sensitive subject ...are films to be made on things like this? The film should not be released.”

The Muzaffarnagar law maker also added, “Censor Board is not the sole authority of matters, they should have shown this film first to various other 'stakeholders’ including people from the region.”

Balyan, also questioned that if it's a matter of creativity then why did they have to tell the world that is based on Muzaffarnagar riots?

BJP Legislator Sangeet Som, who is allegedly one of the key accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, told NewsX in an interview, he is hundred percent sure that the film ‘Shorgul’ is financed by one of the cabinet ministers of the Samajwadi party government.
