New Delhi: The giant search engine Google on Monday celebrated the 77th birthday of legendary music composer Rahul Dev Burman aka RD Burman. He was the son of another legendary music composer SD Burman. He died at a very young age of 54.
RD Burman was nicknamed as Pacham da, who created revolution in Bollywood with his unusual compositions. It was Pacham da who turned 70s as the Golden Era for the Bollywood music industry. He is popular for songs like ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, ‘Piya Tu’, ‘Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar’ and ‘O Haseena Zulfonwaali’.
RD Burman collaborated frequently with Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar which made these artists popular. Later on, he went on to marry Asha Bhonsle, who was his second wife. Most of his hit compositions were written by Gulzar. His music is still popular in the contemporary scenario and is known for creating a magical aura as soon as it is played.
Although RD Burman bagged 18 nominations, he won three FilmFare Awards for Best Music Director.
