Many fans condemned the "Poker Face" hit maker for supporting the Dalai Lama

New Delhi: American pop singer Lady Gaga has irked her fans in China by showing her support for the Dalai Lama.

Gaga met the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader on Sunday before a conference in Indianapolis. She sat down with the Dalai Lama to talk about the power of kindness and how to make the world a more compassionate place.

A video, in which the pair discussed issues such as meditation, mental health and how to detoxify humanity, was posted on the singer's Facebook account.

Gaga also shared some images on Instagram for her followers. The image was bombarded with abusive comments.

Many fans condemned the "Poker Face" hit maker for supporting the Dalai Lama who is a dangerous figurehead for Tibetan separatism.

The Dalai Lama says he now advocates a "middle way" with China, seeking autonomy for Tibet under Chinese rule.

Following Lady Gaga's meeting, Chinese websites and media organisations were ordered to stop uploading or distributing her songs.
