New Delhi: Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan raked controversy on Friday when he said that the slaughtering of 'Bakra' did not necessarily meant Qurbani.

While on a promotional tour of his upcoming movie Madari in Jaipur, Irrfan told reporters that the slaughtering of goat did not signify Qurbani if there was an absence of natural affinity or affection for the slaughtered.

"The meaning of Qurbani is to sacrifice something which is close to you instead of any goat or sheep which you just buy to sacrifice. Before sacrificing, we should share a bond with that thing otherwise just killing of an animal will not serve the purpose. Nowadays we have the lost the relevance behind such religious activities and perform these rituals without knowing the meaning behind them," said the actor.

Qurbani is a religious practice in Islam where the sacrifice of an animal is legal from the morning of the 10th to sunset of the 12th Dhu I-Hijjah, the 12th lunar month of the Islamic calendar. On these days, Muslims all over the world offer Qurbani which means a sacrifice/slaughter of an animal on specific days for the pleasure of Allah, according to sources.

The Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan also spoke the Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani and said that a transformative amendment should be passed to change the rule book.

Slaughter of animals.

I fully support Irrfan Khan on his comments about animal slaughter r. There are similar rituals in Hinduism also, These border insanity. whemn you cannot give life to an animal you have no right to slaugher them. all these need to be revisited and sanity should prevail. Thanks & regards.
