MUMBAI: ‘BA Pass’ actress Shikha Joshi committed suicide at her apartment in Andheri West, Mumbai after slitting her throat open with a sharp object on Saturday.
According to the reports, continued lack of work led her to take the drastic step. The incident occurred around 6 pm when the 40-year-old actress locked herself inside the bathroom taking a knife along with her.
“After a long time, when she didn’t open the door, her room-mate knocked the door asking Shikha to come out, why are you taking so much time inside. When the door was opened, her neck was covered in blood and she collapsed due to excessive bleeding,” said a police official.
“The actress was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri where she was pronounced dead. She was conscious while being taken to hospital and able to talk. When the room-mate asked why she took the extreme step, the struggling actress said that she was frustrated due to lack of work,” police added.
No suicide note has been found so far from the crime scene but with prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide, the officer said.
She was staying with her friend in a housing society in Andheri West for the last two months whose statement is being recorded, Senior Police Inspector Ravindranath Pawar said, adding she was survived with 19-year-old daughter who lives in Delhi with her grandparents.
Model-turned-actress played a small role in 2012 film ‘BA Pass’ alongside actress Shilpa Shukla.
