New Delhi: Tamil film actor Vikram Prabhu, who has worked in films like Prabhu Solomon's 'Kumki', will now be seen playing the role of  a Border Security Force (BSF) officer in GNR Kumaravelan upcoming film 'Wagah.'
'Wagah' will revolve around the romantic angle between Prabhu and Ranya Rao who plays opposite Vikram. The film portrays tensions in the border regions and addresses the problems of soldiers.
“We would be shooting for the film on one side and there’d be real shooting happening on the other! We would hear sounds of bombs from a distance, ” Prabhu told a leading portal.
"When Kumaravelan sir (director) approached me for the role, I felt proud. I gave it my nod although I knew it would be a challenging project indeed,” Prabhu added.
Vikram also mentioned former Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Minister Mufti Mohamed Syed for his assistance who helped them seek permission to shoot in Kashmir.
Apart from Vikram and Ranya, the movie also stars Karuna and Sathyan in lead roles.
Wagah is set to hit theaters on 12th August.
Vikram Prabhu made his debut in Prabhu Solomon's Kumki (2012). He had also played the protagonist in Ivan Veramathiri and Vellaikaara Durai. He is the son of actor Prabhu Ganesan and grandson of the actor Sivaji Ganesan.
