New Delhi: In a major blow to celebrity supporter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), music director and singer Vishal Dadlani, who received flak from the Jain community over his tweet on Tarun Sagar, a Jain monk, the Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to provide protection to the singer from being arrested.
Earlier, a day after the highly revered religious leader of the Digambar Jain community monk Tarun Sagar addressed the Haryana assembly naked, Dadlani in a tweet termed Tarun Sagar’s speech as “monkery”. However, he later apologised for his tweet.
The singer’s tweet on the Jain monk backfired and received flak from the Jain community.
Following the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had termed Dadlani’s tweet on the religious leader as “unfortunate”.
Kejriwal tweeted, “Tarun Sagar ji Maharaj is a very revered saint, not just for Jains but everyone. Those showing disrespect is unfortunate and should stop.”
