New Delhi: The Pakistan’s Academy Selection Committee on Thursday shortlisted ‘Mah-e-Meer’ as the official submission for consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film Award category at the Oscars 2017.
The main plot of the movie revolves around the life of a modern poet who discovers the work of 18th century poetry legend Mir Taqi Mir. The movie features Fahad Mustafa, Iman Ali and Sanam Saeed. ‘Mah-e-Meer’ is set in contemporary times and written by Sarmad Sehbai.
Pakistan re joined the foreign language Oscar race in 2013 after 50 yeras with ‘Zinda Bhaag’ followed by ‘Dukhtar’ in 2014 and ‘Moor’ in 2015.
While talking to media, Anjum Shehzad director of Mah-e-Meer said, “I am thrilled by the news. For an ensemble of extremely creative cast and crew this film is a labor of love. Each one of us is proud to be a part of it. I would like to thank the committee for considering our effort worthy of representation and would like to take this opportunity to thank the media, cinema owners and above all the audiences for supporting us.”
