New Delhi: Bollywood’s eternal diva ‘Umrao Jaan’ Rekha turns 62 today. The gorgeous actor has been a part of the industry for the last 40 years and has acted in more than 180 movies.
Rekha whose real name was Rekha Ganesan, daughter of a Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Telugu actor Pushpavalli, was born in Chennai. The Bollywood diva started her career as a child actor in ‘Rangula Ratnam’, a Telugu film in 1966. She made her debut in Bollywood in a lead role for the movie ‘Sawan Bhadon’ in 1970.

Initially, it became very difficult for her to work in Bollywood because of the language barrier. Undeterred by this, she made an effort and learnt Hindi for her Bollywood career. Rekha was also criticised for her looks but later in the 70sshe emerged as a sex symbol.

2) Khoon Pasina (1977)
‘Khoon Pasina’, an action-crime film was released in 1977. It starred Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rekha and Nirupa Roy in the lead roles. ‘Mr. Natwarlal’, an action-comedy film about a conman seeking revenge was released in 1979. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Ajit Khan and Amjad Khan in the lead roles. Rekha played the role of Shanno, who was the love interest of Natwar in the movie. Amitabh Bacchan gave both amazing comedy and romantic scenes in the movie.
