Mumbai: Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty was trolled on microblogging site Twitter after Twitterati posted a news item by an English Daily where it said that Shilpa Shetty misinterpreted George Orwell’s Animal Farm as children’s fiction.
After there were reports that Council of School Certificate Examination (CISCE) decided to include Harry Potter series and the Lord of the Rings series as part of student’s curriculum, a leading newspaper took opinions from a few celebrities on the books that should be a part of children’s curriculum so that it is beneficial for the students. When Shilpa was asked for her opinion, she was quoted as saying, “Even ‘Animal Farm’ should be included as it will teach the little ones to love and care for animals.”
As soon as the mistake was spotted, #ShilaShettyReviews started trending on Twitter and people took jibes at the Bollywood actress by posting hilarious jokes about other books.
Animal Farm is an allegorical novella written by George Orwell that actually traces the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. The animal characters are used as allegorical characters.
