Popular television actor Alka Kaushal and her mother Vishwa Mohan Badola were sentenced to 2-year jail term on Monday for money laundering.
Alka and her mother had borrowed Rs 50 lakh from an acquaintance Avtar Singh, which they did not return. Alka then handed two cheques of Rs 25 lakh each to the man but they got bounced. Avtar Singh later filed a case against Alka and her mother in Malerkotla court.
According to a report in Amar Ujala, “Advocate Sukhbir Singh said that Alka and her mother had borrowed 50 lakhs from an acquaintance, Avtar Singh. The money was borrowed with the promise of serial-making. When Avtar asked Alka to give back her money, he got 2 cheques of 25 lakhs each. But they got bounced. After that Avtar, filed a case against Alka and her mother in Malerkotla court.”
Alka was sentenced to two-year imprisonment by a district court in Sangur, Punjab. Along with Alka, her mother was also sentenced to jail for two years.
Alka Kaushal is known for her negative roles in TV series Qabool hai and Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. She was also seen as Kareena Kapoor’s mother in Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
