The arrest of top Malayalam actor Dileep in the sexual assault of an actress in February this year in Kochi has sent shockwaves across the nation. Now a complaint has been filed against actress Rima Kallingal regarding the case. Apparently, Rima posted on Facebook a message from the assaulted actress and also revealed her name.

Numerous celebrities have been pulled up recently for naming the victim including Kamal Haasan and Malayalam actor Aju Varghese. Varghese apologised subsequently stating he didn’t know the law.

According to Section 228A of the Indian Penal Code, anyone who reveals the identity of a victim of sexual assault can end up with of an imprisonment of up to two years.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has been asking state bodies to take action against those who reveal the identity of the sexual victim. The Dileep case has been high profile and the police are still investigating the crime for more evidence.
