Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan shouted out ‘nepotism rocks’ at a recent event in New York. Post that, Twitterati took to slamming them. After Varun Dhawan tweeted out an apology, it was Karan Johar’s turn to follow the suit.
In a television interview, Johar stated that it was ‘nepotism rocks’ was a joke and he truly believes talent rocks. He added, “If anything that rocks, it’s your talent, hard work and conviction. It’s the energy you bring to your job. What we said was meant to be a joke, which I think has been misplaced, misunderstood and I think it went wrong. I regret it.”
What irked most people was the fact that Kangana Ranaut was not even present at the event and Karan Johar thought this was a funny joke to crack in her absence. In retrospect, Johar felt it was totally misplaced.
K Jo decided to have the last word on this whole nepotism debate which erupted when Kangana Ranaut was on his Koffee with Karan show. He said, “I want to once and for all say and close this chapter after this and subsequently I will not speak about nepotism nor Kangana because it would be distrustful for her and it would be ungraceful at my end, which I’ve already been. Nepotism is easy access, nobody can deny that, but what you do with that access is what moulds you into a professional.”
