It seems the censor board has taken the coined media term ‘Sanskari Censor’ too far. Pahlaj Nihalani-led CBFC has asked for 48 cuts in the upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead.
The blow to ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ is the latest after the news of CBFC chief, Pahlaj Nihalani, stepping down has surfaced.
As per reports, Nihalani’s screening committee not only asked for 48 cuts but also humiliated the producer of the movie over the choice of topic for the movie and also on the choice of clothes used in the movie.
Following this, the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) has also called for a press conference on Wednesday at 3 PM.
The movie, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, has been caught up in a number of controversies as the casting director of the movie, Sanjay Chouhan, said in an interview that it was not possible for him to cast a ‘fair and handsome’ actor opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
After which, Siddiqui. tweeted, “Thank you for making me realise that I cannot be paired along with the fair & handsome actors because I am dark and not good looking, but I never focus on that.”
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bidita Bag in the lead roles and directed by Kushan Nandy, is slated for release on August 25 this year.
