Thala Ajith is known as the Box Office King in Tamil Nadu and now he’s gotten even bigger. The buzz is that his latest flick Vivegam has made the highest pre-release business after Rajinikanth’s 2.0. Produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, the movie is rumoured to have made a whopping Rs 120 crore already. Director Siva’s Vivegam is releasing on August 24 and with this strong buzz, it looks like it’s a blockbuster already.
According to sources, the satellite rights along with the digital rights were bagged by Sun TV for around Rs 30 crore. Sun TV was apparently keen that they get the digital rights for the film as well as otherwise it would have gone to Amazon. The audio rights were apparently sold for Rs 3.5 crore to Sony.
Meanwhile, the theatricals in Tamil Nadu have also been sold for around Rs 54 crore say sources. The breakdown of figures is as follows: Chennai – Rs 5 cr; Chengalpet – Rs 11.50 cr; North Arcot – Rs 4 cr; Salem – Rs 5.35 cr; Coimbatore – Rs 9.30 cr; Trichy – Rs 6.20 cr; South Arcot – Rs 3.25 cr; Madurai – Rs 6.30 cr; TK – Rs 3.60 cr.
It was also stated that the Kerala rights of Vivegam were going for between Rs 4 to 5 cr while Telugu rights were around Rs 10 crore. Added to this are the international theatrical rights and the total amount is a staggering Rs 120 crore plus.
Vivegam has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs 100 crore and has been widely shot across Europe.
