One of the most controversial movies of the year, ‘Julie 2’ has been cleared by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an ‘Adults’ certificate with absolutely no cuts.
The erotic-thriller ‘Julie 2’ was surrounded with controversy as soon as the information of the former CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani presenting the movie came to light. This piece of news created a huge uproar on social media leveling Nihalani as a hypocrite for promoting soft porn.
Throughout his tenure as the CBFC chief, Nihalani never failed to impose cuts on movies merely on the basis of words like ‘intercourse’, ‘menstruation’. Being critised for being a double standard, the CBFC chief very confidently defended his ‘sanskari’ stand by saying ‘Julie 2’ should be given an ‘A’ certificate without any cuts.

CBFC’s decision to pass Raai Laxmi starrer ‘Julie 2’ without cuts has certainly made Nihalani a very happy man. In a report published by The Quint, the former CBFC chief was quoted saying, “This is just what I had hoped for. If I was still the CBFC chairperson, I’d have given Julie 2 an ‘Adults’ certificate with no cuts. It is a clean Adults film for adult members of a family. Though it’s a film on an adult subject – the exploitation of strugglers and newcomers in Bollywood – the film has no nudity , no skin show , no double-meaning dialogues. Like I said it is a family film for adults and the CBFC has done the right thing.”
Helmed by Deepak Shivdasani, ‘Julie 2’ is set to hit the big screens on October 6. The movie is the sequel of Neha Dhupia starrer erotic drama ‘Julie’.
