Actress Parineeti Chopra has come out in the open against the trolls who slut shamed Mahira for her casual day out with Ranbir in New York. According to a report in Indian Express, Parineeti who was present at the ‘Golmaal’ trailer launch on Friday, Sep 22 was asked about social media trolling and slut shaming that the stars face on a daily basis to which the ‘Meri Pyari Bindu’ actress expressed concern but optimistically said that the slut shaming is going to stop soon. She also mentioned that social media often makes a mountain out of a molehill.
Social media went into a frenzy on Friday when pictures of Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and ‘Raees’ fame Pakistani actress Mahira Khan went viral. The pictures which were shared allegedly by paparazzi, who caught the duo casually smoking on New York streets, also received backlash from trolls who slut-shamed and called out Mahira for wearing a revealing backless dress and smoking.
Here are the pictures which were flooring on social media throughout the day:
Parineeti said, “I mean, it’s not to do with our film, but I think I would just like to say one line. I don’t want to answer your question. But, it’s quite unfair, everybody knows it is unfair, and it will stop. Today because of social media, everything becomes too big a deal.”
The social media scrutiny is no more a new affair for Bollywood stars but at a certain level the rude comments and calling out adversely affects the artists as they feel they are being poked into their personal lives.
Several film stars including the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Ahana Kumara and Parineeti Chopra herself have been trolled and fat-shamed on social media for absolutely futile reasons. The most recent one before Mahira was targeted today was ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ actress Ahana Kumara who was body shamed for wearing a bikini.
Parineeti has always been loud of her criticism for these trolls and have responded them with her dedication.
She is currently gearing up for her next release ‘Golmaal Again’ which is directed by Rohit Shetty.
