Hugh Marston Hefner who shot to fame with his lifestyle magazine, ‘Playboy’, passed away on Wednesday. The news was announced by the Playboy Company confirming that the businessman died a natural death, surrounded by family and close friends at his home in Los Angeles.

Hugh Hefner lived an envious life with the beautiful Playmates at his mansion and often used to throw marvelous Playboy parties. It has come to light that the Playboy owner, Hugh Hefner bought a crypt next to Marilyn Monroe in 1992, for $75,000 (Rs 50, 00,000 approx.).

The two — Hefner and Monroe — got to know each other after Hugh used a nude photograph of Marilyn Monroe to be featured on the cover of Playboy magazine.

However, the two always claimed that they had never met in person.

While speaking to Los Angeles Times in 2009, Hugh said, “I’m a believer in things symbolic. Spending eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up.”

On the other hand, “Marilyn: Her Life in Her Own Words”, the actress wrote, “I never even received a thank-you from all those who made millions off a nude Marilyn photograph. I even had to buy a copy of the magazine to see myself in it.”

Playboy Hugh Hefner was born on April 9, 1926 in Chicago. He introduced the world to Playboy magazine in 1953 and turned his company into one of the most recognisable American global brands in history till date.

Apart for being known for his iconic magazine, Hugh’s trademarked style included pipe-smoking, dressing in silk-pajama and being the center of a constant fantasy party at Playboy mansions. Hugh Hefner was married to Crystal, a 31-year-old model, who had also been the Playboy Playmate of the Month for December 2009.

This gesture by the Hugh ‘Playboy’ Hefner has divided people. While some see it as a touching gesture and others find it a sleazy intrusion.
