Singer Arijit Singh receives threat call from underworld, says no to police protection

MUMBAI: Bollywood has been under the scanner of the underworld for long and this is no hidden fact. The celebrities of the tinsel town have a number of times complained about receiving threat calls by the underworld dons. While actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar have been on the hot list of these members of underworld, the most recent to join the league is singer Arijit Singh.
According to a report, underworld don Ravi Pujari has threatened the soulful singer who shot to fame with his song ‘Tum Hi Ho’ from Aashiqui 2 and asked him to pay Rs. 5 crore. Not only this, Pujari has also reportedly asked the singer to perform at two stages for him without charging any money.
Sources inform that Arijit has already filed a written complaint at the Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai; however, he has denied filing any FIR against the underworld don.
“Singh received a call from Pujari. Ravi Pujari asked him whether he will sing for him. It was not a threat call. Pujari only called him once and has not called since,” said an officer from the Oshiwara police station.
Not only this, the 28-year singer has also said no for the police protection he was offered following the threat.
In the mean while, Singh took to Twitter requesting media to stop bothering him with the news. “It's a humble request to media to stop bothering me about news. There are other important things happening in India,” he tweeted.
