Akshay Kumar’s sexist remark on comedian Mallika Dua during an episode of Great Indian Laughter Challenge has earned him the wrath of her father journalist Vinod Dua who has slammed the actor on Facebook. “I am going to s***w this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co-worker Mallika Dua that “aap bell bajao main aap ko bajata hun” at 5:26. This is his sense of humor and language. Star Plus.. wake up,” an angry Vinod Dua wrote. The post was deleted later.
The Rustom actor had made the controversial comment in reference to the show’s format wherein judges ring a bell to praise an act. In a conversation with news agency IANS, Dua said he does not demand an apology from the channel Star Plus as they have not aired this particular episode as of now but wants Akshay Kumar to apologise. “I don’t expect an apology from Star Plus as they have not aired this episode. But I expect an apology from this fellow (Akshay Kumar),” Dua said.
Earlier, an angry Mallika Dua had taken to micro-blogging site Twitter to post “Hey! Quick question. Does anyone find 5:26 funny? Charming? Entertaining? Family entertainment. GEC.” The tweet was later deleted by her. According to unverified reports, stand-up comedians Hussain Dalal, Zakir Khan and Mallika Dua being have been ousted from the show due to low TRPs and only main judge Akshay Kumar has been retained.
On Indian comedy shows, the line between funny and vulgar often gets blurred with contestants and judges at times crossing all limits in a bid to grab eyeballs. What is surprising is that Akshay Kumar in past has always raised his voice for contestants being insulted in the names of comedy, so this remark from him was a bit unexpected.
