The one beautiful face that remains constant in Bollywood since the 60’s era is the evergreen, ageless and timeless beauty — Rekha. When we look at her, the first thing that comes to our mind is that ‘how does she manage to look so beautiful’? Time has passed, years have gone by but this diva doesn’t seem to age anytime soon. When we see her on a platform, all we can do is admire her timeless grace, eyes that speak so much and the way she says so much while saying nothing at all.
As Rekha turns a year older today, we wish the graceful star a very happy birthday! The diva, with her outstanding work, has given us many exceptional performances which are cherished even today. From being the ‘girl next door’ in Khubsoorat to a women full of revenge in Khoon Bhari Maang, and being a dangerous underworld don in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Rekha has been the most versatile Indian actress of all times.
The actress first appeared on the big screen as a child artist in the Tamil movie Rangula Ratnam in 1966. These were the times when she was also known as ‘Bhanurekha’. She then made her promising debut as a leading actress in Kannada film Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999 with Rajkumar in 1969. But once the actress stepped into Mumbai and starred in her first Bollywood movie, Anjana Safar, there was no stopping the ageless beauty.
Rekha has worked in over 180 films in the span of 50 years. However, one of her best performances till date which still gives many of the viewers goosebumps remains cult classic Umrao Jaan in 1981 for which she even won herself the national film award for best actress.
Even though Rekha’s personal life has been full of ups and downs, she is and will always be remembered for her outstanding work, her sparkling eyes, timeless beauty and the best example of grace personified.
