Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor who will be seen playing the role of Rajput king Maharawal Ratan Singh in the controversial movie Padmavati has revealed that he lost 4 kgs in just 5 days so that he could comfortably wear an armour weighing around 30-40 kgs while performing action sequences. “I lost four kilos in five days,” the actor told NDTV in an interview. He added that for him the most important part while playing a character is understanding the psyche of it so that he can justify the role. “I don’t find physical challenges as challenging as I find understating the psyche of the character that you are meant to play and be true to him and be able to find all the layers in him. I had to draw from my instinct and from what Sanjay sir had conceived in the script,” he said.

In another interview, Kapoor said that sword fighting for the film has been done in a very raw manner. “Sword fighting is a very defined skill… We’ve done it in a very raw manner. As raw as it could get,” he said. The release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati was postponed after the film failed to get a certification from Central Board Of Film Certification over an incomplete application. The movie was scheduled to hit the theatres on December 1.

The controversy surrounding the film and its actors refuses to die down as the film fraternity stands divided over the issue. Earlier, National award-winning editor B Lenin had made nasty remarks about bollywood actress Deepika Padukone at an event. “Deepika’s own father (Badminton ace Prakash Padukone) has thrown her out of the house,” Lenin said taking everyone by shock since the meet was held to extend support to Padmavati.
