This maverick film director is working on his film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ which he says is based on former CM of Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao’s life story. Ram Gopal Varma’s flick is being produced by YSR Congress Party leader Rakesh Reddy. When RGV spoke to the media, he stated that he was taking one chapter from NTR’s life which was like ‘Mahabharata’. He was also going to confine the film to one aspect of NTR’s life — that is when NTR met his wife Lakshmi Parvati till his demise. The story is being shot from the angle of NTR’s wife. RGV added that he has done extensive research on this.

He said that the movie is based on lot of information from numerous sources that he has collated. “It would depict the mental torture that NTR went through at this point,” he added. “I want to show the audience what happened 20 years ago as if it happened now. It’s a subject that I understand and felt differently about,” the director said. RGV wrote on his social media page, “One single step that created love in the heart of one man but also hatred in hundreds. But that single step also remotivated him to once again make millions of people love him. This is the story of Lakshmi’s NTR.

Lakshmi Parvati, a divorced Sanskrit teacher, became NTR’s second wife in 1993. His first wife passed away in 1985 due to cancer. The marriage between NTR and Lakshmi Parvati caused turmoil in the state and the former Tollywood star’s political career went downhill post that. In 1995, he was removed as the leader of the Telugu Desam Party that he founded. His son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu was the one who spearheaded this move.

It’s a love story full of hatred, jealousy, power mongering, back-stabbings and above all unbelievable inter-relationship conflicts. The director made it clear that his intention was not to slam any political party or show any individual in bad light. The movie will release in early 2019.
