Zaira Wasim-Aamir Khan starrer Secret Superstar has picked up its pace by way its collections in the last couple of days after an average opening. The Diwali release is particularly doing well in metro cities and has already collected over Rs 22.75 crores at the box office. The movie is facing stiff competition from Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again as well as Vijay’s Mersal at the worldwide box office. Superstar Aamir Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make his movie a big success. The movie is receiving good mouth publicity which is pulling the audiences to theatres.
The film starring Zaira Wasim in a lead role stars Aamir Khan in a different look. The Diwali release did not receive a bumper opening on Thursday, as was expected and managed to mint only Rs 4.8 crore despite hitting more than 1700 big screens on the first day of its release. This is Aamir Khan’s second-lowest grosser on opening day since Dhobi Ghaat which had collected Rs 2.78 crores on the day of its release back in 2011.
Aamir Khan’s last two movies PK and Dangal were super duper hits at the box office. Khan’s last movie Dangal had got a smashing opening and earned Rs 29.8 crore on its first day. The movie is India’s highest grosser of all time. Many film pundits have said that Secret Superstar received less footfall on Diwali since it is considered a low-occupancy day with people busy in festivities. The film has surely picked up on weekend, but is far from matching the success of Aamir Khan’s previous few movies. On the other hand, Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again is rocking at the box office and has left Secret Superstar way behind with its collection. Now, it would be interesting to see if the film manages to enter the Rs 100-crore club or not. Going by the current trends, the feat seems unlikely.
