The poll bugle has been sounded for 5 states. 170 million voters will seal the fate for political parties in the next 3 months.
The election commission announced the poll schedule today for assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
Two states will be keenly watched — West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The results of these two states will have big repercussions on national politics.
It's the ultimate litmus test for several parties; the Congress having sealed a key alliance in Tamil Nadu, will be hoping for a similar alliance in West Bengal as well with the Left as alliances could well define the polls, much like Bihar.
