Insight- Udta Punjab row: First an attempt to 'gag,' then move to 'sabotage

It was sabotage most foul. Ahead of its box office release, 'Udta Punjab' has been leaked online.
But what made speculations rife was that the pirated version was an uncut censor board copy, submitted for its perusal. Given the acrimonious past between Anurag Kashyap and Pahlaj Nihalani, the film maker was quick to lash out at the leak being the work of 'vested interests' who were trying to sabotage free speech.
With fingers pointed at the Board, Pahlaj Nihlani was cornered and he decided to lash out at NewsX.
But it was a united Bollywood which vociferously called for defeating piracy and upholding freedom of speech. Despite the leak, Udta Punjab hopes movie goers tomorrow will defeat piracy and support freedom of expression.
