It flooded last week in the IT city of Bengaluru, but the lakes in Bengaluru are dry. The lakes are being encroached upon and the land is being reclaimed for construction purposes on a large scale. The city's infrastructure has hit a low with the floods proving the point. The lakes are being sucked dry by corporates and land grabbers. Reports suggest that almost 54 per cent of the lakes in the city have been encroached due to illegal buildings. According to sources, more than 11,000 encroachers were identified which included government agencies too.
