Letter to aicte vigilance by cuff students

Ten really ridiculous rules Bengaluru's Christ University imposes on students These rules have only led to more and more agitation TNM Staff| Monday, August 1, 2016 - 17:15 1. Students say the dress code is discriminatory – the rules are heavily biased against girls. In the main campus, it’s shirts and trousers with belt for men; and Cotton churidhar or salwar and knee-length kurtas for women. NO LYCRA LEGGINGS, DUPATTA COMPULSORY. After leggings and lycra were banned some years ago, security guards were asked to check for the material used by students. “The would stare at us, touch the fabric. You can’t touch girls legs,” a former student says. 2. No clapping, hooting and cheering in auditoriums. If caught, identity cards are taken away and the student is asked to meet the dean. 3. There can be a bandh in the whole state, but Christ University will conduct classes. Thankfully, attendance is not compulsory for all, only students living within a 3km radius have to attend class. 4. Christ University has its own penal code: Students late for sports practice - which starts at 6:30 am – are fined Rs 20. If students, including girls, don't attend a session, they are fined between Rs 30-40. Fine for attendance shortage (per subject). Students and lecturers allege that the university collects lakhs of rupees in fines. 5. Security guards decide whether a late comer can enter the campus, while rules suggest that students will be allowed to attend class without attendance. 6. Earlier, students were not allowed to remain in the hostel if they were sick. Now, the rule has been removed, but if students are to stay out, their parents have to fax a permission letter a week in advance to the hostel in-charge. 7. For some years recently, the college management called students’ parents for “ridiculous” stuff. So, even parents from the north-east who sent their kids to Bengaluru had to come travel several days to get to the college. 8. Students who live in the college hostel are told to leave the hostel if their attendance in a semester is less than 85%. 9. Hostelers are allowed one hour for dinner as food is not served in the hostel. They are asked to report to hostel between 8:15 pm to 9:15 pm. If you’re late by even a minute, you’re slapped with a fine of Rs 200. Students sometimes end up paying thousands of rupees as fine every semester. 10. You can stay out only one night in a single semester, with parents’ permission. It doesn’t matter how more permission letters you produce. This was an article published in one of the online blogs recently, this letter is from behalf of all the students at christ university, the christ management doesn't allow to publish articles criticising them. We are students of the faculty of engineering kengeri. We hoped a far better changes in our college when NAAC came to our college and asked about our life in christ.we couldn't say much because we were scared of CCTV cameras rolling all over the christ, also when each and every student in christ university had different opinions about the college, dean selected students only who meets their that about 5% of the nerd society went to meet the NAAC authorities and the remaining people left in the college itself We majority of the students come from middle class families.some are from local Kannada families whose life conditions are really bad.but still the christ university with the power of a deemed university has the authority to collect huge fine for silly unnecessary things such as growing beard putting sandals instead of formal proper black shoes, rolling up sleeves, forgotten I'd card, late for coming to christ hostels, and so on...each and every university meets an average of 75 percentage of attendance but in christ we need about 85% of attendance in failing to have so we need to pay a fine of rs5000 to write the examination.we need to pay fine for late submission of library books also. For each and everything in this campus meets fine.plucking flowers in the garden, fruits, etc they said to be fined about 500 of our senior had to pay a fine of 3000 rs for plucking tender coconut from the trees.this was said to us in a validatory function by our co-ordinator. We didn't expected much from christ university.these rules and regulations are made each and very day like thuglak's reformation.we are also not allowed to wear trousers out side the campus or hostel.some of us are from south India and we are not comfortable with pants.we had forgotten how to wear our traditional lungi and dothi.these basic needs of a students are violated at this campus.they say they provide a holistic environment and nurturing ground for enthusiastic can an enthusiastic youth could survive these harsh conditions? Entire WiFi enabled campus had a situation in which google also had been blocked.YouTube ,Facebook and other blogs, sites, etc containing entertaining contents were already been there is no point in stating that entire campus is WiFi enabled campus. As we all know christ is runned by cmi fathers.fathers used to be messenger of god.we see them while at their rounds as demons from hell.their soul purpose is to catch students for desciplinary actions, dress code, class attention etc.if there is a phone in his pocket it will be confiscated All these rules and regulations are not ment to be followed by each and every students.there is another category of students where they have their relatives parents and other family members working at christ or other higher authorities. Their mobile phones are not confiscated,no tension of paying fine, escape from each trouble they cause, bunk the classes.. Etc Dear sir this may be my last and final letter from me while studying in christ.if the authority finds out if I wrote this letter.we are not simply pranking.. If you want to know more about this campus ask the students outside the campus over a cup of coffee... Sir the situation is worse... Than you could think of.. Now all the eyes are on banarghatta campus every one should take a look at our kengeri campus also... So the one who are reading this letter please do take necessary action
