The Chief Minister who is under fire from the Opposition for failing to stop Shahabuddin from walking out of jail disappointed yet again. Making no promise, giving no time frame, Nitish's response reeked of platitude. In fact his remark has only given more fodder to the Opposition that has accused Nitish of ignoring governance to continue in power with Lalu's RJD.
Three days, three pictures have highlighted what Bihar is witnessing right now. A Don is roaming free in the company of an absconding sharpshooter who the cops can't just seem to find. He is out there gloating in front of the media but Nitish's police is clueless.
Its ally RJD too seems to have a liking for those wanted by the police. Pictures of party chief's son Tej Pratap are out, in which he is seen posing with those who have been named in the murder case of a Siwan journalist, the same case in which RJD convict Shahabuddin remains a suspect too.
When NewsX confronted the Bihar law minister, he asked us not to trouble him with such questions as he has no idea about whether the Nitish govt is interested in moving court to send back a man with at least 37 cases against him.
The developments in the Shahabuddin case or the lack of it from Nitish's side has raised some big questions. With Lalu by his side, does the don have total immunity in Bihar?
