IPL 8: CSK win by one run against DD

CHENNAI: In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL 8) match, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday won by one run against Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Chasing a target of 151 runs, Delhi Daredevils' South African Albie Morkel scored 73 not out and blasted two fours and a six in the last over but he didn't get the much-needed support at the other end.

Needing a six off the last ball, the left-handed batsman just managed to score a boundary and lost by one run.

Daredevils lost three quick wickets. Veteran pacer Asish Nehra (3/25) rocked their chase, taking the first three wickets as his excellent bowling forced the Delhi batsmen into playing poor strokes.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings posted 150/7 after Daredevils elected to bowl after winning the toss.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni too found the going tough. In the end, the Chennai skipper blasted two sixes in the last over to take his team close to the 150-mark.

Newly-married Indian batsman Suresh Raina didn’t last long and scored only 4-run against Delhi Daredevils.

Brief scores:

Chennai Super Kings: 150/7 (Dwayne Smith - 34, Faf du Plessis - 32; Natha Coultir Nile - 3/30, J.P Duminy - 1/15).

Delhi Daredevils: 149/9 (Albie Morkel - 73 not out, K. Yadav - 20; Asish Nehra - 3/25, Dwayne Bravo -1/19).
