The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a note of the violation and is likely to probe the violation.
After the rain halted the match, the batsmen – Kohli and Chris Gayle at the crease went to the pavilion. Kohli was then seen in the corridor where his girlfriend was seated and soon the duo was on the large screen at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
According to the Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) protocol, the cricketers are not allowed to meet their girlfriends or wives during the match.
A senior officer of the (ACSU) told reporters, “As he is the Captain, he is aware of the rules that nobody is allowed to meet anyone personally while the match is technically on and it is applied to players and more to a captain.” He added that we will look into the matter.
Rajiv Shukla, Chairman of the IPL, who was also present during the match, said, “If Virat had violated the rule, he will be warned for not repeating it in future.”
