EOW arrests 5 accused of cheating on pretext of providing work order from health ministry

The Delhi Police’s Economic Offenses Wing detained five suspects for fraud under the guise of supplying a work order from the Ministry of Health for the delivery of Covid vaccinations.

On Sunday, the Delhi Police’s Economic Offenses Wing detained five suspects for fraud under the guise of supplying a work order from the Ministry of Health for the delivery of Covid vaccinations.

Harmann Sabharwal, Govind Tulsian, Diprana Tiwari, Trilok Singh, and Mrityunjoy Roy have been listed as the accused. More than six persons were defrauded of Rs 14 crore by the accused. After receiving many complaints from Sunil Kaushik, the accused, according to the police, generated counterfeit documents from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. They were then detained.

The police said “Allegations were made against the same accused in all complaints, and the complainants all described the same method of operation. Every one of the complainants said that they were forced to sit in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare conference room to carry out the work order for the shipment of Covid vaccinations. “

The police continued: “The case was recorded following a preliminary investigation, and the Economic Offenses Wing launched an investigation (EOW). There are a total of 6 complainants, and the sum that was defrauded is worth Rs. 15 crores “.

The investigation has shown that in May 2021, the suspected individuals approached the complainants and suggested that they handle the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s work order for the transport of Covid vaccinations. They took the victims to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which is housed inside Nirman Bhavan’s grounds, to win the complainants’ trust.

Additionally, the accused individuals pretended to be Ministry personnel to acquire the complainants’ signatures on fraudulent work orders. They received Rs 15 crore from the complainants in exchange for these fake work orders.

There has been a sizable cash deposit into the suspected people’s bank accounts, according to the police’s examination and analysis of their bank accounts and other financial information.

One of the accused Harmann Sabherwal was apprehended in Agartala. He was hiding out in the hotel Polo Ground, while other suspects were apprehended in Delhi, according to special CP, EOW Ravinder Yadav.

The other accused person’s involvement is being looked into.
