New Delhi: Legendary artist SH Raza died at the age of 94 on Saturday in New Delhi following a longtime illness. Raza for the past two was admitted in the ICU of a private hospital.
 
The last rites will be performed in Mandala in Madhya Pradesh. 
 
Raza lived and worked in France since 1950, but maintained strong ties with India. He was awarded the Padma Shri and Fellowship of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1981, Padma Bhushan in 2007, and Padma Vibhushan in 2013.
 
Raza’s works used to be abstracts in oil or acrylic. An international acclaimed painter, he was also conferred with the highest French civilian honour, the Commandeur de la Legion d’honneur (Legion of Honour) on July 14, 2015.
