A- A A+

To begin with we need to understand what is self-esteem and why is it Important? Self-esteem is confidence in one’s own worth or abilities, self-respect. It is a judgemental evaluation of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self.

The way you think or feel about yourself impacts your whole personality, if you easily get manipulated by what others say about you or when  you feel low when someone pulls you down then it is all about  your thinking ability how you perceive the whole situation.

A person having a high self-esteem of itself will always overcome others judgements or mocking, emerging even stronger than a person having no or less self-esteem. The latter may come across depression, lack of confidence, afraid to face people, scared or fear of talking and at extreme cases may also lead to suicide.

One should be good enough in one’s own eyes because there are people unhappy with the great mighty too!

  1. Start Your Day With A Positive Thought

This is the first and the utmost thing to begin your day with and also, to have a self- confidence to bring out that glowing self-esteem from within yourself.  Remember that this cannot happen without 7-8 hours of proper sleep and then waking up fresh with a positive thought  in mind.  You may start your day with some of these ‘self-motivational’ quotes: I CAN DO IT! I AM MY OWN MASTER! I WILL TRY TILL THE END! I WON’T GIVE UP!

  1. Exercise For A Healthy And Positive Attitude Towards Life

Yes it’s true, working out 1 hour daily releases ‘happy hormones’.

As the research says “exercise is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress, depression and anxiety, also improves memory, helps you sleep better and boosts overall mood”. One must exercise at least five times a week to lead a healthy lifestyle not only physically but also mentally. A healthy and positive mind is a door to healthy thoughts and positive attitude. You get what you give, so, with so much positivity generating from within it is difficult to sulk in negativity.

  1. Accept Impulse and Choose Response

Hold self-defeating impulses and act in a self-caring and effective way. By choosing to act in a more wise way we settle down our fears and accept the faith.

Being able to curb the overreaction by taking a moment out gives time to think about the whole situation.

We won’t be able to do this at first, but as we become more effective, we will begin to appreciate what our self-thinking has done to us and also, then choosing to respond wisely.

  1. Stop Comparing Yourself With Others Or Appreciating Yourself Less

“A poor self-image is the magnifying glass that can transform a trivial mistake or an imperfection into an overwhelming symbol of personal defeat.”

David D. Burns

There is nothing like perfect! Try to embrace your imperfections and just accept the way you are. You are You, and that is your strength and identity no one can be you nor can you be like someone else.

Take some time out to appreciate yourself because till the time you don’t you cannot expect  it from others. We all our humans with different body structures, skin tones, thinking capability, physical output,  so comparing yourself with others is inappropriate.

  1. Focus on Greater Things in Life

Wasting your time thinking about what others said to you will do no good! It is life so do not believe that no one is ever going to say bad things to you or criticize you in your workplace or in public because we all go through this our entire life.

Appreciate criticism if it is from people who mean to you and try to overcome them. Others who pull you down or criticize you unnecessarily try not to respond and focus on bigger things in life and let your achievements make the noise. Sort your thoughts and mind to be able to focus on what you want in life. You are the sole controller of your life, you can either self- destruct it or construct it so choose what matters to you – others opinions or your owns.

  1. Your Vibes Attract Your Tribes

With the person you are one tends to vibe with the same energy. Surround yourself with people who are productive, help you grow and push you ahead in life than holding you back.

You don’t want to be stuck in a situation where there are vibes or an energy holding you from achieving what you desire. Energy can be in a form of human or place (surroundings or ambience) which may have a much greater impact on your life and mental health than you think.

Even if it is hard to get yourself out of it, do it and move to those who bring out the best in you. Be the change or the positivity you wish to see around you. As they say a rotten apple in the basket rots the whole apple neither do you want to be that rotten apple nor be surrounded by one. Surrounding yourself with positive energy to divulge confidence and boost your self-esteem.
