On the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chauth, Indian women fraternity are seen busy preparing for the holy evening, where they would pray for the well being of their partners. The age-old custom of applying henna or mehndi during this festival is seen in all pomp and show, as women line up in front of parlors to get their preferred designs on their palms and feet.

Special mehndi artists from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are were seen showing various designs on their iPads, tabs and cell phones in various parlors. The parlors in metro cities are also seen offering a variety of packages for Mehndi, along with another beauty regimen such as facial, manicure, pedicure, etc.  Messages were also seen being circulated on the social media for the promotion of mehndi designers and parlors.

It is also important that the mehndi is properly engraved on one’s hand or feet or both. Here are a few tips to make your mehndi long lasting and dark this Karwa Chauth:

Vicks VapoRub: Yes, our friend during cough and cold can also help you to make your mehndi darker and long-lasting. After applying the mehndi for 10 to 12 hours take it off and apply Vicks VapoRub for the darker look.

Clove: Take 4 to 5 cloves and heat them in a pan. Once the steam starts coming out, apply the steam in your hand. The steam from the clove can help your mehdi look darker.

Lemon sugar solution: Mix lemon and sugar in appropriate quantity and use cotton to apply the solution on your hands and feet. Repeat the drill several times and see the mehndi glow darker. This is the most widely used hack used by Indian women.
