The evergreen Nehru jackets have been in vogue for quite a while now. And we have our very own PM Narendra Modi to thank for it. A perfect combination of subtle and zooty, Modi manages to grab eyeballs even with his clothes.
The recent UK visit saw Modi experimenting with light-shaded kurtas and contrasting shawls and overcoats. Dressed majestically in a black overcoat, Modi waved to London as he landed for his three-day visit there. The chic black and white polka dotted pocket square stood out with the subtle black bandhgala as the Indian PM addressed the British Parliament.
Keeping up with these fashionable times, Modi manages to achieve a perfect balance of traditional and contemporary.
One of the designers complimented Modi on his ‘classic’ looks and said that the PM downplayed his attire in order to dissuade the over-hype created about his clothes.
At Chequers, Modi went in for combinations of beige with a warm stole in a slightly deeper neutral hue. While Modi couldn’t manage to get back the Kohinoor, he did manage to bring home the Queen’s attention from the Buckingham Palace. Donning a maroon coloured Modi-fied Nehru jacket with a cream kurta, the PM easily gave competition to the Queen in her pale blue attire.
When Modi sneezed Indian at Wembley, the UK Prime Minister’s wife Samantha caught a cold. Dressed in a sequined sari, Samantha looked elegant standing next to Modi, who stood tall in his blue black bandhgala and textured shawl.
Modi has been seen spreading magic with his Indian clothes on his previous foreign visits too. In addition to being a wonderful orator, we are now glad to have a ritzy Prime Minister known for his impeccable style. With his suave ways and royal attires, the PM is surely making a mark on the fashion world. Way to go, Modi ji!
