NEW DELHI: One of the most awaited cars of 2015, Tata Nano GenX has finally been launched on Wednesday for the Indian market at a dazzling price starting from Rs. 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). 

However, the latest AMT (Easy Shift) version starts from Rs. 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Tata Motors with its new production are aiming to restore the Nano brand and place it as a more high-class product.

The whole campaign of the newly launched car is actually is to project it as a ‘smart city’ car therefore getting rid of the ‘cheap’ tag that went against the brand name in the long-ago.

The brand is now targeting to reach a larger audience base with a more up-market cabin, somewhat updated engine, bigger fuel tank and exterior modifications.

Features – Design element and others

•While the 2015 Tata Nano’s exterior and interior looked a little different, the adding of an automated manual transmission and openable hatch are the two most important changes given to the hatchback.
•The 5-speed AMT is the same unit that is found in the Tata Zest diesel AMT version.
•Tata Nano GenX in terms of exterior designs has new smoke headlamps, alloy wheels, Tata signature grille and an openable boot which is claimed to offer a luggage carrying facility of 110-litres.
•While the car earlier had 15-litres of fuel ability, the latest version has a larger fuel tank of 24 litres offering a range of more than 450 kms.
•The cabin of the car as well is more bracing now and is smarter with several new features like Zest-inspired steering wheel, front power windows, amphistream music system with 4 speakers, etc.
•The engine with 624cc, two-cylinder MPFI petrol is still the same; however, the company has added a new cylinder head and aluminium block to help the car run smoother than before.
•The car churns out a maximum power output of 38bhp and 51Nm of peak torque and the powertrain is offered with both a 5-speed AMT gearbox and the regular 4-speed manual transmission. 
•While other trims come with a manual gearbox, the AMT gearbox is accessible only with the Easy Shift trim.
